Our training starts from the survivor perspective, bringing empathy and understanding to your educational establishment; going ‘beyond just words’.
Beyond Just Words (BJW) can provide bespoke safeguarding training, whether it be for the Senior Leadership Team, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, or the Ancillary Staff. Much of the safeguarding training which provided today is generic – one size fits all. This is not always appropriate and often the training is repeated with the same case studies.
Our trainers have extensive experience in a wide range of educational settings. Their unique experiences put the survivor at the centre, equipping your staff with the tools necessary to help children and young people who have been harmed.
What BJW provides is unique, it is training from the survivor perspective, presented by survivors. The survivors talk about what helped or hindered them as children to move from hurting to healing. Sadly, abuse is still taking place – it is not just historic. It is really hard for a child to come to school to learn, if they are hurting from the trauma they have experienced. We provide training to show you how to support the child/children within the educational setting. We start by ‘Talking Through the Taboo’, showing you ways of starting those difficult, uncomfortable conversations; leading on to running ‘Feelings Groups’ to offer on going support to those traumatised young people.
